ALBANY – Gov. Andrew Cuomo pointedly challenged federal lawmakers Tuesday to have the “political courage” to pass a national gun control policy to stop violence stemming from the flow of illegal firearms.
Cuomo’s comments on CNN’s “New Day” came a day after an Empire State Development Corporation counsel was shot in Brooklyn before the kickoff of the West Indian Day Parade.
Carey Gabay was shot in the head during the predawn hours Monday by what apparently was a stray bullet as gunfire erupted on the street he was walking down.
The governor characterized the shooting as “another act of pure randomness.”
