JAMESTOWN – Cummins Inc. has announced that the Jamestown Engine Plant has secured a significant capital investment to install a new block machining line into its current facility, with facilities preparation commencing in the 2nd half of 2015 with completion and full production capability expected by start of 2017.
According to Chautauqua County Officials, the investment represents a vote of confidence in manufacturing in the Jamestown and surrounding area, and allows Cummins to further optimize the efficiency and agility of its supply chain. The investment also provides for job creation and retention in the Jamestown facility.
Today Jamestown Engine Plant manufactures more than 100,000 engines for the heavy-truck market, and currently provides engines for approximately 35 percent of all Class 8 trucks in North America.
