MAYVILLE – It’s committee week in the Chautauqua County Legislature, with both the county’s public facilities committee and administrative services committee scheduled to meet later today.
Among the items to be discussed is a new local law designed to regulate pawnbrokers and precious metal and jewelry exchange dealers. According to the proposed local law, any one involved with pawn broking or buying and selling jewelry and precious metals in the county would have to obtain the proper license from the county.
Today’s administrative services committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Room 331 of the Gerace office building. Prior to that meeting, the Public Facilities committee will meet at 4 p.m. Among the items on its agenda are resolutions dealing with the county airport upgrade project, as well as a resolution pertaining to naming the county the lead agent in a state environmental review report that is needed for the planned upgrades at the county highway garage in Falconer.
