JAMESTOWN – The springtime snowstorm that dumped more than a foot of snow on some areas of Chautauqua County should be all but over by the end of this morning. That’s according to the National Weather Service, which is calling for just occasional snow showers throughout today and this evening.
Monday, the snow began falling on Jamestown and surrounding areas just after 8 a.m. and continued throughout the day and into the evening. As a result of the heavy, wet snow, tree limbs fell on power lines, disrupting service for homes in the Sinclairville, North Harmony, Maple Springs, Cassadaga, Frewsburg and Mayville areas. While only a few inches of snow blanketed the immediate Jamestown area, residents in Sherman reported as much as a foot of snow.
More spring-like temperatures are expected to return to the area by the end of this week.
