JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown will begin its partnership with a new air service provider this weekend.

On Wednesday Chautauqua County Airport Supervisor Bill Tucker joined county Executive Vince Horrigan and other officials to welcome Sun Air Express to the Greater Chautauqua-Jamestown Airport Robert H. Jackson Field.

Sun Air is a Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based ultra regional airline that provides services to airports that are part of the federal government’s essential air service program. Starting Nov. 1, Sun Air will replace Silver Airways on November 1, 2014 and will be providing flights between Jamestown and Pittsburgh.

Under the new service agreement with Sun Air, travelers coming in and out of the county airport will have access to single-ticket connections to over 40 cities served nonstop from Pittsburgh International and hundreds more around the world.

County Executive Horrigan said it’s the start of a great partnership with Chautauqua County.

“This is essential to economic development,” Horrigan said. “Here in Jamestown and Chautauqua County, we are doing everything we can to be business friendly and tourists friendly and to have a niche. To me, Sun Air Express is that niche. They bring people here – in terms of visitors – to our summer and winter destinations.”

Sun Air will start with 24 weekly round trips, which includes four flights each weekday, two flights on Saturday, and two flights on Sunday.

Flights will be offered from Jamestown to Pittsburgh on Monday through Friday at 6:30 a.m., 9:40 a.m., 12:40 p.m., and 3:40 p.m.; Saturday at 9:40 a.m. and 12:40 p.m.; and Sunday at 12:40 p.m. and 3:40 p.m.

Flights will be offered from Pittsburgh to Jamestown on Monday through Friday at 8:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 2:15 p.m., and 5:15 p.m., Saturday at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.; and Sunday at 2:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Tickets begin at just $29 when booked online at www.flysunairexpress.com and tickets from $39 when booked through travel sites such as Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire, or Travelocity.
