MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Legislature will be meeting in Mayville Tuesday afternoon for its 2017 organizational meeting.
Among the items on the agenda is the nomination and vote for a new Chairman, who will replace current chairman Jay Gould of Ashville. Gould announced late last year that he would be stepping down from the chairman position, although he plans to continue serving as the representative for District 17, which includes the towns of French Creek, Clymer, Harmony, and most of the town of Busti. Gould’s replacement will likely be legislator David Himelein (R-Fiindley Lake), though that has not been confirmed.
In addition the Republicans and Democrats in the legislature will appoint the majority and minority leader. They will be PJ Wendall of Lakewood for the Republicans and Chuck Nazzaro of Jamestown for the Democrats.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 4 p.m. in the legislative chambers and is open to the public.
