MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Legislature will have a new chairman starting in January 2017.
The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting that current Chairman Frank “Jay” Gould will preside over his final meeting in December.
Gould announced his intentions to step away as the County Legislature’s leader following Wednesday’s meeting. He’s served in that capacity since January 2012.
He said that while he’ll no longer be chair of the legislature, he still plans to serve as a legislator and even run for reelection next year.
The Republican Caucus will announce the new chair of the legislature either next month or in January 2017.
