MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Land Bank Corporation (CCLBC) is one of six land banks in New York State to be awarded funding from the stat Attorney General’s Land Bank Community Revitalization Initiative.
Last month, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office announced that the Chautauqua County Land Bank Corporation, which helps convert vacant, abandoned or tax-delinquent properties into uses that support community revitalization, has been awarded $1.5 million through this initiative.
The funding will enable the Land Bank to acquire and demolish 40 highly-distressed and blighted properties in Jamestown, 20 distressed properties in Dunkirk, and 20 distressed properties in rural areas. The criteria for demolish is determined on whether the properties are both vacant and are driving down the value of neighboring properties.
The funds will also be used to convert up to 80 vacant lots into a Side Lot projects and then transferred to neighboring homeowners. And the Land Bank will now have more funding to to acquire bank-owned, foreclosed properties for the purposes of renovation and resale.
