MAYVILLE – A 20-year-old Jamestown man faces a charge of second degree murder following an indictment by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury.
According to Jamestown Police, the charge comes a year-and-a-half after the November 2017 stabbing death of 22-year-old Dylan Ownbey of Frewsburg. City police say Tavion Turner was taken into custody late last week and arraigned in Chautauqua County Court on the charge, which came following a lengthy investigation.
Ownbey was stabbed on Willard Street on Nov. 28, 2017. The incident occurred after the two were allegedly involved in a fight. Ownbey was rushed to UPMC Chautauqua hospital but pronounced dead. At the time of the stabbing, investigators said there may have been a second suspect in the area who fled toward Peterson Street. But so far, only Turner has been charged.
He was sent to the Chautauqua County jail on $1 million cash bail.
