Tom Reed
BUSTI – Congressman Tom Reed (R-Corning) was in Chautauqua County on Friday, making several stops, including one at the Southern Tier Brewing Company in Busti. Reed, who does not currently represent Chautauqua County but is running for office in the newly created 23rd congressional district, was in town to discuss the Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce Act.
The Corning republican says the legislation – which he is co-sponsoring – will decrease the excise tax on small breweries such as Southern Tier Brewing company and the many in Upstate New York. Reed says if the legislation is passed, the tax decrease on these businesses will protect existing jobs and create new opportunities for local businesses and farms.
