MAYVILLE – Members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the entire regional community are mourning the loss of a deputy after he lost his brief battle with leukemia.
Forty-Four year old sheriff deputy Michael Seeley died Friday night at the Cleveland Clinic. Seeley was a long-time member of the sheriff’s office who gained widespread praise for helping to save the life of a man who had heart complications while running in Mayville in 2013.
Seeley is survived by his wife of Nicole.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Lutheran Church. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
A benefit that was scheduled for Sunday, March 4, at the Fluvanna Fire Department will still take place to celebrate Seeley’s life. The benefit will take place from noon to 4 p.m.
