JAMESTOWN – The effort to clean up and renovate a community park on the city’s east side has taken another step forward. The Friends of Lillian Dickson Park recently established the Lillian Dickson Park Non-Endowed Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The Fund will serve as a depository for any park-related needs. Tax-deductible donations may be made to the Fund through the Community Foundation, 418 Spring Street in Jamestown or online at www.crcfonline.org.
Lillian Dickson Park Park is located on Falconer Street between Sturges and Bowen Streets and has been targeted for redevelopment. Since early spring, a group of local residents and supporting organizations have been meeting to discuss ways to improve the park and also make it safer for children and families in the neighborhood. It was also a main target during Jamestown’s annual Hands On Jamestown Community Cleanup Day.
The Friends of Lillian Dickson Park has set a goal of raising $30,000 for the Park to help with improvements and hopes to achieve that goal through fundraising and community events. The next Friends of Lillian Dickson Park meeting is set for Tuesday, June 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Park.
