Coggins Trial Resumes Wednesday Morning in Mayville

MAYVILLE – Day number five of the Davide Coggins double murder trial takes place Wednesday in Mayville.

Coggins is accused of organizing the home invasion and subsequent murder of Gordon and Joyce Skinner of Frewsburg in April 2013. Three other individuals – Stephen Todd, Ricky Knickerbocker and Joshua McCormick – were also arrested in the crime but have since made plea agreements with the County District Attorney’s office. All four men were from the Elmira area.

The trial resumes after taking both Monday and Tuesday off. On Friday, the prosecution called several individuals to the stand, including the then-girlfriend of Stephen Todd, who provided testimony that gave details of the day before the crime as well as the day of the crime when the four returned to the Elmira area. The prosecution also called a friend of the four men to the stand, who testified that Coggins was planning to burglarize the home of an elderly couple. A third witness also provided details on how the three men were acting upon their return to Elmira following the crime.

It’s believed that Todd, Knickerbocker and McCormick will take the stand at some point this week. The trial resumes Wednesday in County Court at 9 a.m.
