MAYVILLE – The fourth and final person convicted in the double homicide of a Frewsburg area couple in April 2013 will be sentenced next week in county court.
The Jamestown Post-Journal, reports today that the sentencing of Davide Coggins has been moved to March 2 from the original sentencing date Feb. 23.
Late last year Coggins was found guilty of two counts of felony murder for the deaths of Carroll residents Gordon and Joyce Skinner. The homicides took place during a home invasion in which Coggins and three others entered the home and physically assaulted the Skinners before killing them and trying to set the home on fire. Coggins was the reported leader of the group, who came up with the plan and brought the three others to the Skinner home. All four men were from the Elmira area.
The three others had all reached plea deals with the DA’s office prior to going to trial and were sentenced last month in county court. Joshua McCormick was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 17 years, Ricky Knickerbocker was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 16 and 16 1/2 years, and Steven Todd was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 25 years.
Chautauqua County district attorney David Foley has said he will request a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison for Coggins.
