JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals will meet Wednesday afternoon to consider a zoning variance for the installation of a 100-foot cellphone tower in a residential area on the city’s north side.
The variance request is being filed by Jared Lusk, Nixon Peabody partner on behalf of Verizon Wireless so it can install the cell tower adjacent to 40 Hallock St. The proposal includes using a monopine tower, which involves disguising the tower to look like a tree, rather than a traditional metal tower.
The matter was originally scheduled for the zoning board’s June meeting but was rescheduled when it was determined a State Environmental Quality Review needed to be completed first.
Several residents have come out against the tower and are expected to be at today’s meeting.
Several other items are also on the agenda for today.
The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 in the city council chambers, second floor of city hall.
