JAMESTOWN – A public hearing is scheduled to take place Wednesday in City Hall to collect information regarding the annual distribution of Community Development Block Grant and HOME funding, provided by the federal department of Housing and Urban Development.
City development Director Vince DeJoy says the city is inviting community members and various organizations to attend the meeting and offer their thoughts on housing, neighborhood and economic development needs that could be addressed with the federal money.
“It’s basically an opportunity for the public to tell us their concerns and what they would like to see the limited CDBG funds be used for,” DeJoy said. “Whether it be housing, infrascture, rehab, commercial development, economic development, improvements to park – ee’re just going to be hear to listen to what the people have to say and basically put together a plan based on that input.”
DeJoy said that those who are unable to attend the hearing are invited to submit their thoughts to the city Department of Development no later than May 1, 2015.
According to DeJoy, the city is expected to receive just over $1 million in CDBG funds and $300,000 in HOME funding.
Wednesday’s hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. in the city council chambers, second floor of city hall, and is open to the public.
