JAMESTOWN – Members from the Jamestown Police Department are investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday night, Aug. 9, in the 600 block of Spring Street.
According to Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson, at about 8:18 p.m. 9:18 p.m. a report of shots fired was reported in that area of the city. On arrival responding officers located a victim in the area of 614 Spring St that had been shot in the hand. The victim was sent to WCA Hospital and later transferred to UPMC Hamot for treatment to his non-life threatening injury.
According to Samuelson, investigators determined that an Hispanic male and a black male approached the victim as he was riding his bike in the area of E. Sixth and Spring Streets when he was approached by the two men and was shot at multiple times.
Investigators do not believe this is a random act and instead say that the victim was likely targeted.
