JAMESTOWN – Tips from the public have helped Jamestown police charge a Buffalo man they say is involved in recent burglaries from two Jamestown churches.
John Bish, 45, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, one count of fourth-degree grand larceny and one count of petit larceny for his involvement in the burglaries at the Greek Orthodox Church on Francis Street and the Bethel Lutheran Church on West Third Street in Jamestown on March 4.
Bish allegedly entered the Bethel Lutheran Church during Sunday morning services and took a laptop computer and a digital camera. He was also believed to have taken a wallet from a parishioner’s purse at the Greek Orthodox Church later that day.
Bish was arraigned in the Chautauqua County Court on Thursday and was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 property bond.
