JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police are investigating a stabbing incident that took place on the city’s north side.
Officers were called to an apartment on Prendergast Ave. at the intersection with Fifth Street around 3 p.m. Wednesday. A female victim who had suffered from a superficial stab wound was taken to UPMC Chautauqua hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is a person known to police, although the Post-Journal says they weren’t immediately taken into custody and at last word, police were still searching for them.
The incident occurred about a half hour after city police were alerted to a separate incident that involved an attempted stabbing at 614 Spring St.
In that incident the suspect – Hector Velez Velazquez of Jamestown – was taken into custody and charged with second-degree menacing and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
