JAMESTOWN – City Police are continuing their investigation into two separate armed robberies that took place in the city over the past week.
The most recent incident took place on Tuesday night, when two victims were robbed at gunpoint by two unknown suspects. According to the Jamestown Police Department, two victims were robbed of cash and belongings just before 11 p.m. Tuesday after they exited a vehicle at 114 Vega St. The two victims say a pair of male suspects wearing dark-hooded sweatshirts approached them from a separate vehicle, displayed a shotgun and struck one of the victims in the head with the butt of the gun. The victim was sent to the hospital for treatment and the investigation is continuing.
Meanwhile, police say they are continuing to look into a separate incident that took place early Friday night on the grounds of Jamestown Community College campus.
During that incident, two victims were sitting on a bench at about 7:30 p.m. when they were approached by two masked suspects, with one of them displaying a pistol. The suspects took cash and other belongings and then fled the scene.
Following an investigation, police were able to locate some of the stolen property inside a college dorm room and an unidentified 18-year-old from Cleveland was charged with criminal possession of stolen property. However, police are still looking for the men involved in the hold-up. The suspects are described as dark-skinned males, over 6 feet tall and in their early 20s. Further investigation suggests that the suspects and victims knew each other.
Investigators are requesting anyone with information on either incident to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7531 or leave an anonymous tip at 483-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential
The two incidents are the latest robberies to occur in the city during the past week. Last Saturday, city police arrested two teens after they allegedly held up a city resident Saturday night on Willard St.
