JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Police Department has arrested a suspect in the animal cruelty case involving a dog found dead, hanging from a tree on the city’s west side.
City police say 47 year-old Robert Overton Jr. was arrested on Wednesday and charged with Felony Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
The investigation has revealed that Overton allegedly hanged a pit bull dog from a tree in late November or early December of 2017. A person walking through the area on Monday night, April 2, saw the dead dog still hanging in the tree and reported it to police. Investigators were able to connect the animal to Overton through multiple citizen tips after media bulletins were put out.
Overton was sent to the city jail to await arraignment.
