JAMESTOWN – Members of the Jamestown City Council will get their first look at the Department of Public Works street repair and construction schedule for 2014 when they meet Monday night in city hall. The schedule is especially important this year because of the battering man city streets took during the recent harsh winter.
City DPW Director Jeff Lehman says this year’s streets project will get a boost, thanks to an additional 80,000 in emergency road repair funding from the state, and that will obviously be put to use.
“It’s a fantastic addition to money we’ll already get because it will let us probably do a couple more streets,” Lehman recently explained to WRFA. “Conversely, we have a lot more road projects because of the weather we had this winter and Fifth St. is a great example of that. It was a street that wasn’t even on our radar to do anything with last year and now it’s in pretty rough shape.”
Lehman says there are several city streets that will be considered a top priority for this year’s construction and repair season. The list of streets slated for repair will be announced during Monday’s work session, which begins at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of city hall.
