JAMESTOWN – City officials are notifying the public of an upcoming street closure in downtown Jamestown.
According to Jamestown public works director Jeff Lehman, a portion of N. Main St. from 2nd Street to 3rd Street will be closed starting tomorrow and continuing into the middle of next week.
The closure is taking place to allow for cold milling and overlay. The Department of Public Works and Board of Public Utilities will close down the north bound travel and parking lanes to facilitate road reconstruction.
Motorists may experience delays when traveling through the project area and may wish to use alternate routes of travel.

This town has a ridiculous way of paving roads. Some roads are stripped and paved within a day or two yet others like Windsor St. remain stripped & tore up for months as a major inconvenience to the residents. But Allen St. was done in a day. Literally. Maybe they should pave what is stripped down before going to another location. I bet if the Mayor lived on Windsor St. it’d be paved already!! This years tourism has been decimated by our unfinished projects. Just like the bridge by Friendly’s that’s been under construction for over a year. Why? And now it’s one lane with a light coming directly out of uptown. What a joke! It’s a poorly managed and run department of the city. Someone should lose their job.

Very valid points, except for the Main Street bridge, which is a project being overseen by Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities, not the City Department of Public Works.
