MAYVILLE – The Jamestown man who pleaded guilty last fall in county court to physically assaulting his infant son in 2014 will spend two years in prison for his crime.
The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting that 21 year-old Steven Spencer was sentenced in county court on Friday. In addition to two years in prison, he was also sentenced to two years post-release supervision and will also not be allowed to have any contact with the child until 2024.
Spencer pleaded guilty to reckless assault of a child in September 2015. He was initially charged with second degree assault in July 2014 after allegedly shaking the child and striking him with an object. The child continues to recover from the incident and still undergoing occupational and physical therapy.
