JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man is awaiting arraignment in city jail this morning after he allegedly robbed two stores in Jamestown last night. City police say 32 year-old Carlos Torres faces armed robbery charges after he allegedly robbed the Wilson Farms store on E. 2nd St. in Jamestown and later robbed a second Wilson Farms store, this tie on N. Main St.
Officers say the first robbery took place at about 6:40 p.m. at the store on the corner of E 2nd St. and Buffalo St. when man allegedly entered the store, showed a weapon and demanded money. A surveillance photo of the suspect was taken and distributed to local media and the public.
Later in the evening, just after 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a second armed robbery at the Wilson Farms at 518 N. Main St. Police were able to locate the suspect matching the description a short time later after Torres was seen leaving a Jamestown residence.
Torres was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and is currently in the city jail awaiting arraignment.
