JAMESTOWN – Jamestown City Firefighters were busy last night battling a fire that broke out in an abandoned home on E. Sixth St. According to a report in today’s Jamestown Post-Journal, it was the second time in about three weeks that fire broke out in the building, located at 646 E. Sixth St.
Firefighters say the house was fully engulfed when the first arrived on the scene. Backup crews soon arrived on the scene and attacked the fire defensively from the outside, since damage from the previous fire had weakened the home and made it unsafe for firefighters to go inside.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined and remains under investigation.
