JAMESTOWN – Two sections of North Main Street in Jamestown will be closed to traffic this week along with a section of Cherry Street.
According to Jamestown Public Works Director Jeff Lehman, milling and paving is scheduled to begin on North Main Street between Kingsbury Street to West Oak Hill Road starting Tuesday, May 21. As a result that portion of the road will be closed for about a week.
In addition, milling and paving is scheduled for North Main Street from First to Third Streets starting Wednesday, May 22 and continuing on May 23. Also on May 22, Cherry Street from Second to Third Street will be closed for milling.
Motorists should expect delays and when possible, use alternate routes of travel. As always, motorists should use extra caution while driving through this and all construction areas.
The city has contracted with Lake Shore Paving for the work on the northern end of North Main Street. Meanwhile the work in the downtown area will be done by city crews.
Regina says
These road closings are to be expected and chronic. So many people have encouraged me to start using Main Street again, since the bridge was fixed. But now we have paving and more delays. I think I will start using this route again sometime NEXT YEAR since I am tired of all the traffic jams and diverted traffic.
