JAMESTOWN – A new person has been tapped to fill a vacant seat in the Chautauqua County Legislature that includes the north side of Jamestown.
Chautauqua County Democratic Committee members representing legislative District 12 met Friday in Jamestown and unanimously recommended Beth Kresge of Lakeview Ave. to replace the seat vacated by Fred Larson, who stepped down from the County Legislature in April after being appointed as Jamestown’s second City Court Judge.
Kresge is currently a stay at home mom who volunteers in the community. She and her husband, Jeff, have one child.
The Legislative District 12 Committee previously recommended that former Legislator Chuck Cornell fill the seat, but the recommendation was turned down by the full County Legislature at its May meeting.
The appointment, if approved, will cover the remainder of 2014. A special election for the District 12 seat will take place in November.
