JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown City Council will have holding its second work session of the month tonight in city hall.
Among the items the council will review and discuss are the lifting of a hiring freeze by the Department of Public Works, in order to bring on a new mechanic and service workers for the DPW garage. The hire is needed in order to fill a vacancy due to retirement.
The council will also review several resolutions dealing with city streets, including the abandonment of a portion of Foundry Alley, along with the abandonment of a protion of Outlet Avenue between Isabella Ave. and Eighth St.
And the council will review a resolution that would allow the city to receive a $7500 grant from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, which would be used to help with the Lillian Dickson Park project. The park, which is located on Falconer St., is in the process of upgrading its playground equipment.
Tonight’s council work session begins at 7:30 in the mayor’s conference, located on the 4th floor of city hall. Various committees are also scheduled to meet prior to the full work session. All meetings are open to the public.
