JAMESTOWN – For its 40th anniversary this year the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation wanted to do something BIG. On June 14, the Foundation will host the region’s first 24-hour, online fundraising event, Give Big CHQ.
Giving days are a new powerful trend happening across the country that rally a group of people around a specific region or cause. Give Big CHQ has been designed to unite people in our community around causes they care about and raise as many dollars as possible for local nonprofit organizations.
“Give Big CHQ is a day to come together to help support the important work of area nonprofits,” said Tory Irgang, Community Foundation executive director. “This day makes it easy to give back and celebrate the countless organizations doing good in our community.”
More than 60 local nonprofit organizations, including Reg Lenna Center for the Arts / WRFA, have registered to participate in Give Big CHQ. Each organization has created a fundraising page and campaign to spread their message through email and fun, creative social media posts.
Community members are encouraged to learn more about Give Big CHQ, and participating nonprofits, by following the hashtag #GiveBigCHQ on social media. Supporters can also help give back by liking or sharing posts about their favorite causes, attending community events or making a donation on June 14.
“This will be an exciting day, we have the opportunity to see nonprofits in action, hear about current needs they are facing and rally together as a community to help,” explained Irgang. “The Community Foundation is also sponsoring a number of cash prize incentives available for the nonprofits throughout the day.”
More information on Give Big CHQ along with a full list of participating nonprofits and available prize incentives can be found online at www.GiveBigCHQ.org. The Community Foundation partnered with GiveGab, a leading expert in giving days, to develop and host the online platform. Foundation staff and GiveGab representatives will be providing support to nonprofits and donors leading up to and on the day of giving June 14.
