DUNKIRK – Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. has been awarded federal funding to help continue to develop early childhood programming in the county.
On Tuesday U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced nearly $4.4 million in federal funding that would go to two Early Head Start Programs in Western New York.
Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc., based in Dunkirk but serving the entire county, will receive $1,343,093 in funding for its Early Head Start and Child Care partnership program.
The other organization to receive the remainder of the money was the Community Action Organization of Erie County, Inc., located in Buffalo.
Schumer and Gillibrand said this funding would allow these organizations to continue their efforts to improve education for low-income children at their earliest age, when major learning strides take place.
