CHAUTAUQUA – A community in Chautauqua County is getting some positive promotional exposure from an national publication.
Smithsonian Magazine has released its annual list of America’s Best Small Towns to Visit, and Chautauqua was rated number one on the list – beating out 19 other communities from across the country.
According to the newly released article, the magazine’s editors say they’ve singled out communities for particular strengths in history, music, visual arts, learning, food, theater and science. In rating Chautauqua number one in the nation, the article says it’s the sort of bucolic place that demonstrate the role of learning in the perpetuation of democracy.
Since the announcement Thursday afternoon, the article has been shared over a hundred times on social media by local residents, organizations and news agencies.
