A brush burn ban remains in place across all of New York State.
On Wednesday the State DEC upgraded its fire danger map and listed the Southern Tier Fire District Rating Area — which includes Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and southern Erie counties — as a high risk area.
The rating came with a combination of increasing temperatures, strong gusty winds, and low relative humidity in the forecast. And while the Jamestown area will see precipitation Friday, the long term forecast and expected weather conditions can lead to an increased likelihood for brush fires for much of April.
Also a reminder that the statewide ban on residential brush burning remains in place through May 14.
