JAMESTOWN – Two classic movies from the 1970’s are scheduled to show at Reg Lenna Center for The Arts just before Halloween.

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the Reg will show Mel Brooks’ 1974 spooky comedy, Young Frankenstein at 7 p.m. and John Carpenter’s 1978 slasher classic, Halloween at 9 p.m.

In Young Frankenstein, a young neurosurgeon (Gene Wilder) inherits the castle of his grandfather, the famous Dr. Victor von Frankenstein. In the castle he finds a funny hunchback called Igor (Mary Feldman), a pretty lab assistant named Inga (Teri Garr) and the old housekeeper, frau Blucher (Cloris Leachman). Young Frankenstein believes that the work of his grandfather is only crap, but when he discovers the book where the mad doctor described his reanimation experiment, he suddenly changes his mind and creates a frightening, yet misunderstood monster (Peter Boyle). The movie is rated PG and is 106 minutes long.

At 9 p.m., John Carpenter’s 1978 movie, Halloween, will show. Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis (A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies) in her debut role. Anyone who’s ever watched a horror film in the last 36 years knows the story of Michael Myers, who as a child, butchered his sister with a kitchen knife. Committed to a mental institution and watched over by Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasance, Halloween II, IV & V, Fantastic Voyage), he engineers his escape 15 years later, returning to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night to terrorize anyone who gets in his way, including babysitter Laurie Strode (Curtis). Halloween is rated R and is 92 minutes long.

Patrons can buy an $8 double feature ticket to see both films. Costumed patrons will be eligible for a prize.  Staff from The Haunting At The Mall – will be in the lobby to promote the final weekend of their attraction.

Reg Lenna Center for The Arts is located at 116 E. 3rd St. in Jamestown, NY. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and one hour prior to show times. For more information about upcoming events, visit reglenna.com or call 716.484.7070.
