JAMESTOWN – City police have charged a Busti man following a stabbing incident that took place Friday, January 2 in Jamestown.

City police say officers were called to 408 Falconer St. just after midnight where they found an unidentified stab victim lying on the sidewalk. During an investigation, officers learned that 24 year old Randy Yanik Jr. allegedly stabbed the man multiple times on the porch of 413 Falconer St. before running away. He was tracked by the JPD’s K-9 Mitchell and found several blocks away, hiding behind a business on East Second St.

Yanik was charged with first-degree assault and taken to Jamestown City Jail where he is being held pending an arraignment. The victim was flown by Starflight to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania. His current condition is not known.
