ALBANY – Governor Andrew Cuomo is hosting a third annual wine, beer, spirits and cider summit Tuesday in the state capitol. The annual event is designed to showcase the products of dozens of beer, wine and spirit producers and farmers, while also allowing them to meet with state officials and discuss ways to grow their industry.
Since the first summit in 2012, the state has been helping these businesses with marketing efforts, allowing them to sell and provide samples of their products at special events and also streamline the business. The governor created a one stop shop, making it easier for beer, wine and spirits producers having a single point of government contact for help with licensing and regulations.
The number of microbreweries has been popping up throughout the state. In 2011 there were 40 breweries. Today, there are a total of 93.
No word on whether or not any local breweries or wineries from the Chautauqua Region will be featuring their products during this year’s summit. The event starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Egg Theater at the Empire State Plaza.
