JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Solid Waste Division announces that Wednesday hours at the BPU Yard Waste Site will begin for the summer season on May 13. Wednesday hours have been extended from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. this year in response to customer input.
The Yard Waste Site already is open from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturdays. Green yard waste is accepted at the site, located at the dead-end of Monroe Street where it extends from Eighth Street. A garbage truck is at the site on Saturdays only.
The Yard Waste Site is limited to use by BPU Solid Waste customers who are entitled to one free sticker per Solid Waste account. A new sticker for the years 2015 and 2016 is required and may be obtained at the BPU Customer Service office, 92 Steele Street, open 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays.
Examples of what may be accepted include tree branches, leaves and brush.
Brown yard waste bags are available to Solid Waste residential customers at the Customer Service office. The 30-gallon bags cost $10 for four bags, which includes home pick-up service of the bags, whether collected all at once or individually by the BPU.
