YORK, PA – A bankruptcy court has approved the sale of all Bon-Ton stores and its affiliated department stores to a liquidator.
All remaining stores will shut down by Aug. 31, with going out of business sales to begin immediately.
Company officials say they are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on employees, customers, vendors and communities.
The Bon-Ton has more than 200 stores in 24 states, including one at the Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood, as well as in the Warren Mall in North Warren, PA.
According to retaildive.com, the chain’s topline sales have been falling since 2007 and it has not turned a profit since 2010.
