JAMESTOWN – The month of May has been designated as ‘National Bike Month’ by the League of American Bicyclists and May 16 – 20 is ‘National Bike to Work Week’.
In response to the increased popularity of the sport and the number of local bicycle enthusiasts who are riding along our streets and roadways, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown has scheduled a Blessing of the Bicycles on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The short service will be held INSIDE the church at 410 North Main Street and will be followed by a ride.
The blessing will be conducted by Rev. Luke Fodor, who had the idea to host the event because of his own personal interest in the sport, but also because he says there is a connection between fitness and spirituality.
This first annual Bicycle Blessing is open to all riders, regardless of religious affiliation.
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is located at 410 North Main Street in Jamestown. For more information on the event call the church office at 716-483-6405 or visit stlukesjamestown.org
