JAMESTOWN – The Oscar nominated drama, Spotlight, will show Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. at Reg Lenna Center for The Arts.
The movie tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world’s oldest and most trusted institutions. When the newspaper’s tenacious “Spotlight” team of reporters delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston’s religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world.
The film stars Michael Keaton and Oscar nominees Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams. Director Tom McCarthy is also nominated for an Oscar.
Spotlight is rated R and is 128 minutes long.
CAP REPRESENTATIVES TO ATTEND SATURDAY SCREENING
Board members and employees of Child Advocacy Program (CAP) will be available before and after the screening to discuss the effects of child abuse on a localized level and how they are working to end child abuse in Chautauqua county.
“Child abuse affects thousands of victims every year. Organizations like the Child Advocacy Program are in place to ensure that victims are given healing and justice and that a spotlight is put on the gravity of sexual abuse in the hopes to put an end to it, said Jana McDermott, Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County. “We’re very thankful that The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts has brought this award-winning and eye-opening film to Chautauqua County,” said McDermott.
CAP is a nationally accredited nonprofit child advocacy center dedicated to ending child abuse in Chautauqua County.
