BEMUS POINT – A Bemus Point man has been arrested and charged with unlawfully growing marijuana after an investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
According the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office, 58 year-old James Gatto of Bemus-Ellery Rd. was charged with unlawful growing and possession of marijuana. The specific amount wasn’t listed, but officers say the total amount that was grown met the threshold for a felony charge.
Gatto was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date.
The Jamestown Post-Journal reports that Gatto is also a member of the Jamestown Fire Department and has been placed on suspended leave following the arrest.
