MAYVILLE – A Bemus Point man was sent to the county lock up late last week for allegedly purchasing vehicles with bad checks.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office say 29-year-old Matthew Mecusker was arrested after a two-week investigation that Mecusker was in possession of four trucks and a camper trailer that were all reported as stolen out-of-state.
Deputies say the vehicles were allegedly purchased at various locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio with bad checks over the last several weeks.
Mecusker was taken into custody on outstanding warrants from Ohio and arraigned as a Fugitive from Justice.
He also was charged locally with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (2nd Degree) and four counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (3rd Degree).
Mecusker was arraigned in the Town of Ellery Court with bail yet to be set.
