FORESTVILLE – A Forestville resident died early Friday night, July 7, after he was involved in an accident while riding his motorcycle.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 61-year-old William Wagner died after his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle, after it was involved in an initial crash with another vehicle.
The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Route 39 and Hanover Road in the town of Hanover. The drivers of the other two vehicles were were 57 year-old Dawn Clayburg of Tonawanda and 23 year-old Brandon Hilton of Westfield. Clayburg was allegedly at fault, having entered the intersection and striking the Hilton vehicle, which had the right-of-way. A chain reaction resulted in Hilton’s vehicle striking Wagner on his motorcycle.
Wagner was taken by Starflight helicopter to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.
Friday’s crash is the second fatal accident involving a motorcyclist in the town of Hanover in less than a week. On Monday, 60 year-old Michael Shoemaker of Buffalo died after being struck while riding his motorcycle on Route 20 next to Old Main Road.
