WASHINGTON – A one-week extension for dairy farmers to apply for a program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture that insures against years with small to no profits.
The Margin Protection Program (MPP), which extended it’s deadline to sign up to June 8, is designed to assist dairy farmers by ensuring financial stability during periods of low milk prices – such as the one farmers are currently experiencing.
According to Congressman Tom Reed’s office, dairy farmers can contact their local Farm Service Agency office to learn more about the program or signup.
