JAMESTOWN (July 1, 2014 – 1:20 p.m.) – Jamestown Police have made two arrests in connection to a shooting incident that took place overnight that involved a suspect firing upon a police officer. However, three men – including the alleged shooter – remain at large.
In an updated to a report sent out Tuesday morning, Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson says that the incident that took place Tuesday morning at 3 a.m. at 188 Falconer St. was a home invasion conducted by five individuals. When a Jamestown Police officer responded to the scene, a single shot was fired by one of the suspects at the officer. The officer was not hit, but returned fire and may have hit the suspect. Following the exchange, three of the five suspects, including the shooter, fled the residence on foot. The shooter reportedly jumped out of a window in his effort to escape.
Two other individuals were arrested by police. They were charged with first degree burglary and are awaiting arraignment in city court. Samuelson says that at this time, police are withholding the names of the two individuals.
Police are also continuing their search for the three men who remain at large. All three men are described as black males with the shooter being described as a black male with a stocky build with dreadlocks and wearing a baggy red shirt. Samuelson says he may be seeking medical attention for a possible gun shot injury.
Samuelson says investigators also recovered a large caliber hand gun outside the residence and it is believed to be the one used by the suspect.
Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts or identity of the suspects who fled is asked to call city police at 483-7531 or can leave an anonymous tip at the department’s anonymous tip line at 483-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
