JAMESTOWN – City police have arrested a city man following an investigation into a number of arsons that took throughout the city.
Jamestown police say 26 year old Joshua Whalen faces three counts of 3rd degree arson following an indictment by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury. He was taken into custody on Monday morning, arraigned and sent to the Chautauqua County jail on $75,000 cash bail.
Whalen is charged in connection with his alleged involvement in the arson fires of vacant homes at 230 McKinley Ave. (Oct. 25, 2014), at 420 Falconer St. (May 18, 2015), and at 1052 ½ N. Main St. (Dec. 24, 2015).
Whalen was previously arrested in June 2014 following a high speed chase with city police.
Police say the investigation into the arson fires of other vacant homes throughout the city continues and additional charges are pending further investigation.
