JAMESTOWN – The issue of making a section of East Second Street safer for bicyclists will be the topic of discussion when the Jamestown city council holds its next work session Monday night.
The creation of bike lanes in the city has been an issue of interest for local health officials, who’ve included bike lanes as part of the regional Complete Streets Initiative and the City of Jamestown Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan. City officials will discuss the feasibility of the bike lanes, as well as what the possible cost would be to install them and whether or not there is any state or federal money available to make the lanes a reality.
The council’s Public Works Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday night on the fourth floor of city hall to discuss establishing bike lanes on an unspecified section of the 2nd Street. Developing bike lanes will also be covered during the regular city council work session, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Police Training Room on the 4th Floor of City hall. All council meetings are open to the public.
